Technical overview

Heat treatment equipment includes box furnaces, continuous furnaces, ring furnaces, pusher furnaces, pit carburizing furnaces, and medium-frequency furnaces. The processes involve pre-oxidation, carburizing, nitriding, quenching, cleaning, tempering, air cooling, air quenching, water quenching, etc. Among the aforementioned, the processes that require particular attention for oil smoke treatment are multi-purpose furnaces, tempering furnaces, pit furnaces, and quenching.

The oil smoke and waste gas generated during heat treatment contain various types of oil smoke, carbon black, metal oxide impurities, and certain acidic oxides. The particles of the soot are fine, and the temperature of the flue gas within the duct ranges from 50℃ to 200℃. The soot is oily, sticky, and high-temperature, and may contain sparks (with flames at the source, and the adherents on the inner wall of the duct are prone to ignition). Additionally, it also contains low concentrations of non-methane total hydrocarbons.

Based on the above operating conditions, Tenzon has determined that the use of a high-efficiency Venturi wet separator for the collection and purification of contaminated waste gases is highly suitable. The proposed solution involves a high-efficiency Venturi wet purification system with a pre-spray system. Subsequently, based on environmental protection requirements, optional secondary purification steps such as filtration/electrostatic precipitation or activated carbon adsorption beds can be added to ensure that emissions from the exhaust stack meet standards. The process flow is as follows:

Based on the production line conditions, for example, in the case of a box furnace production line, where only one to two furnace doors of several multi-purpose furnaces and tempering furnaces are opened simultaneously at most, interlocking valves can be set up for the branch ducts and furnace door openings. In this way, the total air volume of the system will be greatly reduced, and the costs for environmental protection investments and operational energy consumption will be significantly lowered while ensuring excellent collection and purification effects.

The function of the pre-spray unit in the duct is:

Primary spray purification

Temperature reduction and fire safety

Prevent adhesion on the inner wall of the duct

Installing a Venturi pre-nozzle behind the capture hood

to pre-spray the oil smoke can also extinguish sparks and

reduce temperature.

Scouring the inner wall of the duct to prevent adhesion.

The original gas containing dust and oil smoke is pre-sprayed

with water, and the water-gas mixture is transported

to the separator through the piping system.

Venturi nozzle atomizes water, creating a water curtain.

Particles and air are separated by centrifugal force.

Separated air is discharged by the fan.

Spray water and particulates are discharged into the tank.

Sludge and oil are cleaned by a device.

In order to more fully meet the market demands of the heat treatment industry and address the issue of oil fume and waste gas generated in heat treatment workshops, Tenzon provides the aforementioned solution to treat VOCs waste gas from oil fume produced by various heat treatment equipment, providing a comfortable working environment for frontline workers, assisting clients in achieving environmentally compliant production, promoting the healthy and sustainable development of the heat treatment industry, and contributing to the achievement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.

With the rapid development of China's machinery manufacturing industry in recent years, heat treatment equipment has gradually undergone upgrades and replacements. Many enterprises that originally used pit furnaces and box furnaces have upgraded to fully automatic continuous furnace and multi-purpose furnace production lines. Various heat treatment processes can be realized on the controlled atmosphere continuous furnace and multi-purpose furnace production line, including carburizing and quenching with temperature reduction, carburizing and slow cooling, carbonitriding, quenching, bright quenching, tempering in protective atmosphere, annealing, etc.
